md115 Posted July 29, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2010 We will arrive in Genoa on the RCL Navigator of the Seas. It appears that the ship will dock in the Old Port Basin (Bacino Porto Vecchio). Is the train station at Piazza del Prnicipe (we're planning to take the train to Camogli) within walking distance for 4 fit adults? From the Fodor's map, it seems to be a relatively short distance. Thanks.
euro cruiser Posted July 29, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2010 I'm not sure where the Old Port Basin is - do you have more specific information? From the main cruise port, it was less than a half mile and we walked it easily several years ago with one 80+ year old and one 60+ year old. md115 Posted July 29, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted July 29, 2010 This is a link to the map from the RCL website for Genoa docking. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/en_US/pdf/port_explorer/GENOA_ENG_PE.pdf It looked like the ship was docking in BACINO PORTO VECCHIO. euro cruiser Posted July 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2010 Okay, that's the same place we were. It's a pretty easy walk, the hardest part is crossing some pretty busy streets near the dock. I can't remember exactly how we did that, but we accomplished it without problem.
euro cruiser Posted July 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2010 I was just looking at a google map, trying to figure out exactly where we walked. The street view feature is amazing, you can create a map using Ponte Mille, 16126 Genova, Italy as your starting point, Piazza Acquaverde as your ending point, then specify walking directions. Once the map is made, you can drag the street view guy onto the walking route and see exactly where you'll be going. Looking at it, I see that there's been a lot of new construction near the maritime station in the last few years.
