2. Take a cab. A shuttle would run about the same and be a PIA.

Any suggestions on what cab companies to call to arrange the pick up?

No need to prearrange. When you're ready to head out, your hotel door man (or you) can flag a cab. However most hotels have lines of cabs waiting to take cruisers to the port. VERy Easy.
