Staying in SJ Post Cruise-How Early Can we Check In?

We are returning to SJ on Summit on a Saturday morning and plan to stay an extra night and fly back to Chicago on Sunday rather than face the crush at the airport and spend half a day waiting for our flight.

We have not yet booked a hotel but would like feedback on whether we can ask for early check in, or at the very least, be able to drop our luggage at the hotel while we explore.

We have stayed at the Embassy Suites, Caribe Hilton and Intercontinental and they all had luggage storage until your room is ready. While we found the Hilton was a real stickler for their check in times, the Intercontinental gave us our room at 10:45AM on a Sunday morning.

Any hotel will be pleased to check you in early in the morning if they have a room available. Most likely Hilton was fully booked the night before and they did not have a room available (or just a sour guest service rep.) and the Intercontinental did not have a full house.

When we arrive early AM on an incontinental flight we always book a room for that night and recommend that for anyone who insists on getting a room before the promised check in time.

Early check in is ONLY a request although many people think that when they put the request in that they are promised an early check in.
