We have a 5 nite land pre cruise booked for july 17th. Trying to get some info on the cost of food on land and on the train. Can the food on the train be put on your shipboard account? Or do you pay as you go.

I recommend budgeting 50% more than you do at home for Alaska meals, this will then give you a cushion for a splurge or two. :) I believe the Princess rail cars are pay as you go??

Hi!

We enjoyed a couple of meals on the Wilderness Express as part of a Celebrity cruisetour (also pre-cruise) and we paid for the meals on-board. A little pricey? Yes, but not bad - especially in view of the surroundings. By the way, the food was quite good!

 

For other meals, Budget Queen is pretty accurate in her suggestion to budget an average of 50% more than at home - depending on where you live and the quality of the restaurant.
