Bangkok, Royal Thai Handicraft...any experience?

we were in bangkok a few years back and went to a wood craft store/demo and found the work and items amazing! we didnt buy anything althought the workmanship was wonderful and they did ship. DH gas often mentioned that we should have bought something. so were are going to be there next year and of course DH would love to buy something. have heard from tripadvisor, i think, that a few people had troubel getting their items! has anyone here bought, had any experience with them? thanks martha

one thing you have to think about is the fact that Bangkok has high humidity, and if you're buying wood carvings and taking them to a drier environment, they'll crack open in short time.

Also, of course, any Buddha images cannot be taken out of the country, although they are freely sold in the shops!
