Any veteran cruisers been on the Triumph lately?

My parents are considering booking their 7th cruise on the Triumph eastern caribbean. I would like to know from any veteran cruisers who have been aboard her lately the high and low points of the ship. How was the food? Decor? Service? Ship layout? Cruise director? Itinerary? Any comments would be helpful. The reason I am looking for veteran cruisers is that I know any ship is great on your first or second cruise. By your 7th, you become a bit more discriminating and want to choose wisely.

Thanks in advance!

This was our 6th cruise - was the western route. The ship decor was lots of tan, brown and green. We've sailed on the Imagination, Paradise (twice), Destiny & Spirit the Triumph was our least favorite as far as decor. Don't misunderstand - it was fine just not our favorite. We did find her to look a bit worn - a couple booths in the Lido restaurant were torn all the way across and there were some stains on the carpets. We did see people cleaning all the time and general upkeep was great. We found the service to be the best we've had - every single crew member was great at acknowledging us - many went out of their way - even helping you grab the first elevator! The cruise director was very good - on par with John Heald in out opinion.

Food was good - nothing stood out, but all was hot and meat was tender. We would sail this ship again.

My boyfriend and I did the Triumph in September, 2004. This was my 5th cruise, 1st time on the Triumph. I thought the ship was fine. Definitely alot bigger than the other ships I have been on in the past. I know they put down new carpet in the hallways, so I didn't notice any of the stains previous passengers had mentioned. The food was excellant and so was the CD Mark Price and his assistant Wee Jimmy. The decor of the ship was fine. It doesn't really matter to me what the decor of the ship looks like. After all, I am just cruising for the week, not buying the thing. Overall, I think your parents will have a good time.

Sailed the Triumph in 2/04, it was cruise #6. It rained just about every day, but there was still plenty to do inside the ship through the week. Needless to say the decks were PACKED on Saturday, the first sunny day. Casino had nickel slots, they don't all, that is nice for us low-stakes gamblers. It was my first 100,000+ ton cruise, it took a day or two to figure out where everything was. The crew was great! Steve Cassel was the CD, we'd sailed with him on the Sensation a couple of years before. He told me he got a pretty decent raise. Didn't appear that the captian liked him very much though, I thought it was funny. Don't miss the sandwich stand upstairs, it's great! Pizza is too. I personally like the waterslides that drop into a pool better, this one just has a landing strip. Exact same layout as the Victory, except the topless area is a bit smaller.

We did the Triumph in July. I loved the ship. We spent the first day learning the ship--it helped to study deck plans so that we knew what floors went all the way across and which elevators were closer to certain things. The itinerary was good except San Juan was not that great especially since you get there at night--however the pina coladas at Casa Don Q's? were the best. We did the Godfrey tour in St. Thomas and he is as good as everyone said on the boards. St. Maarten we opted to the Divi Bay excursion and we had a blast on the beach. It has the beach chairs, a nice changing room, and the food was pretty good. The shows were good--I like the "Around the World" the best. Food I lived off of: Reuben from NY Deli, pizza, cheeseburger. The Dining Room all the seafood was good--actually there wasn't anything that I ordered that wasn't good to me. It gets pretty crowded but my fam and I recognized the ship was filled to capacity. Go with an open mind and you will enjoy. Be a vacationer, not a critic. If you go trying to find things wrong, you will!
