Rare Kinkacruiser Posted August 9, 2010 #9 Share Posted August 9, 2010 Apart from inviting the CD and his/her asistant to your Meet and Greet, why is it important/good to know who the CD is? Would you not book a particular cruise if you didn't like the CD? Sorry, but as you can tell, I'm not into that aspect of cruising. Anna

However, I would like to know who he (CD) will be just out of curiosity, nothing else. To be honest: the CD's job does not impress me as much as the Captain's. After all I have read on these threads, he (CD) seems to be more of an entertainer. The capt might be much less visible and if so, it's understandable. Somebody has to ¨drive¨ the ship. :D

Somebody has to ¨drive¨ the ship. :D I have a different point of view. The Captain is head of the Bridge team, he obviously doesn't drive the ship all the time. I am sure all Captains are competent, and the only difference I have seen is that some communicate better with the passengers. That doesn't matter to me too much, but it is better if they tell people what is happening. On the other hand, I think the CD makes a big difference to the enjoyment of a cruise. A CD with a great personality and one who listens to what the passengers want (and acts on it) makes for a great cruise. I won't mention names, but we have had a couple who were great, several that are quite good and one who made us appreciate the others even more. Hugh2011 Posted August 10, 2010 #13 Share Posted August 10, 2010 I have a different point of view. I noticed that. And it's just fine. We all have different perceptions of things, just like we have our own favorite colors. :)
