What's the most Romantic Thing.......

Just had a wonderful idea. I posted a question about rice crispy treats on the NCL forum to determine if the Jewel has them. My boyfriend and I shared a rice crispy treat when we first met and it just brings back wonderful memories of that first day. We both love all those warm fuzzy moments.

So I plan on bringing a rice crispy treat for us to share on embarcation day and it got me wondering what other special little things people do for their significant others or have you seen for other people as well. Two years ago my staff and I send chocolate covered strawberries and champaign to a patient who was leaving on a cruise to celebrate their anniversary, they were so nervous about going due to their physical condition, that they admitted they did not order anything special for their spouse and it was too late. Well i called the cruise line explained the situation and they allowed me to order something for them. (i got the name of the person at the cruiseline helping me and sent them a tip after I got off the phone with them) Well that Sunday around 4 pm I got a call at home from the patient and their spouse thanking me and my staff and letting us know they got their gift and were so surprised and touched that they had to call and thank me.

Ok enough of my rambling, I'ld like to hear some of your stories.

My husband wrote and recorded all the music for our wedding. He dowloaded the music to his Ipod and we always take this with us on our cruises. On Formal night we always take the Ipod and go up on the top deck when there is no one else around and have our private anniversary waltz under the stars.

Hello, I am paying for our upcoming cruise on Sept 5th on the RCCL Liberty of the Seas. This is my present to my husband for his 50th birthday! So some of the nice things I am doing for him on this trip are: Staying in an aft corner balcony room, we never stayed aft before so this should be nice. Ordered a birthday cake to be delivered to the MDR on our first night and ordered a different treat to be sent to our cabin every night after that. Our first treat will be chocolate strawberries and wine, then chocolate covered pretzels, then a wine and cheese basket, a note saying that I signed him up for a day of pampering at the spa, etc. Also, will be decorating the room with my girlfriend's help as I want to make the decorations more personal from me. So when he is at the casino with his friend my girlfriend and I will be decorating the room and planning for more surprises. I really wish I could of made the whole cruise a surprise but, couldn't do to his busy work schedule. I am looking forward to celebrating and relaxing. I love your idea about the rice crispie treats too. I think I will pack some along as we both love them too. Enjoy your cruise!:D

My husband and I enjoy a fruity cocktail together in the most secluded spot we can find up on deck during sail away. Even though most of the ship is glued to a railing when we're getting ready to sail away, there's always a little corner on the top deck were no one has seemed to find - so we pull up some deck chairs, snuggle up a little and watch the scenery go by :)

My husband never really officially "proposed" to me, we had just talked about it and then got caught in the thoes of wedding planning. Well, on our honeymoon cruise around Hawaii, we had a slow cruise by the Na Pali coast - beautiful, inaccessible cliffs in Hawaii. He burned all of these romantic songs onto a CD, and we were out on the balcony dancing to them and watching the Na Pali coast glide by and he proposed to me there. We had already been married for 6 days, but it's still the single most romantic day of my life. Sigh...

My BF is not romantic in any way, shape or form. But a couple of years ago on formal night, he actually took me up on the stage for a slow dance in front of hundreds of people. That's it. Nothing outstanding for most people, but for me it was awesome. Now the looooong wait for another gesture. LOL

  • 1 month later...

A couple of things come to mind....

A few years ago I really wanted a tennis bracelet. We priced them in the shop on the ship and in each port, but no purchase. The last night when I got ready for bed there was a beautiful sparkling gift on my pillow.

Valentine's Day, 2009 hubby forgot to bring a gift  This year, he surprised me on Valentine's Day with a Pandora Bracelet and a charm from one of our ports. The sweetest part was that he planned ahead, bought the bracelet at home and put a lot of thought into it, even though he was working 70+ hours two weeks in a row before we left.
