Planning Kauai

Oops, just saw the other thread on this. Feel free to skip.

We are a group of six on the POA in December. We want to do a helicopter tour and everything I've read says to book as early in your trip as you can in case the weather is bad and you have to reschedule. We will be four on one helicopter and two on another which means two of us will probably be with an unknown couple. (We want to do a doors off.) I'm not sure what happens in two of us get rescheduled.

When do most people recommend that you book this? On the first day in Kauai and miss having the whole first day to do other things or on the second day in Kauai where you have to be back at the ship by 1pm or so? What else is there to do in Kauai?

We will be there on the 23rd and 24th of December, so I am not sure what the holiday time will do for or against us.

Recommendations?
