Villefranche and Toulon Sept. 2010

My wife and I will be on RCL in these two ports next month. We have never been to this area, and need recommendations for what to see. We have one day in each port. So feel free to star weighing in on towns (St. Tropez vs. Nice), as well as the nuts and bolts of getting around via taxi, bus, train, etc.

Thanks in advance!

A search (using the "Search This Forum" function on the top of the forum page) will bring up numerous threads on both ports ... there are a couple of recent threads on "Toulon - What to do?", as well as other topics on that port. You'll also find many threads on Villefranche, Nice, Monaco, etc.

Once you decide which places you are interested in visiting, it will be easier to provide details on getting to them, although, in your search, you will also come across specific details on getting around via bus, train and taxi.

Yep, best bet is to read read read......this forum (France) has tons of info regarding all your questions.

to try and answer such a general request would require pages and pages since there is so much in this area. The Cote d'Azure is full of great stuff to see and do. Much of what you decide to do will depend on your interests.

So have fun reading and researching.....most of us find it is half the fun of the trip :)

Other sites that I use for on line research are Frommer's Destinations and Tripadvisor.

Here's a link to Frommer's Toulon and the Tripadvisor forum for Toulon. To find links for the other places that you'll be visiting, you can access them by doing a google search using "Frommer's destinations + the name of the town or city" and "Tripadvisor forum + the name of the town or city".

The Cruise Critic Ports section (see the link at the top of the page) has some worthwhile port info, and if you google 'Europe Port Reviews' and 'Eport reviews' you'll find good info on some of the ports that you'll be visiting (Tom Ogg is the author of these reports.)
