tandemcruzr Posted August 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 15, 2010 Calica gives you easy access to the ruins of Tulum or a visit to Playa del Carmen. Lots of shops, restaurants, bars, etc. along Ave 5. Cozumel offers beach clubs, downtown shopping and eating in San Miguel, a tour around the island to see the east side, Punta Sur on the south tip of the island and the beach clubs along the western shore. Very safe in either location. Enjoy --
dmdiver Posted August 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2010 Years ago we did a jeep tour in Calica. We went off road & swam through a cave. Had a quick break afterward then headed off to a buffet lunch on the beach & swim time. We booked it through CCL. The company name on the jeeps was Pelican. We had a blast! Cruzman Posted August 15, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2010 In Calica, take a cab to Xcaret; cost is $10 for the cab. Entrance fee is about $69 per person and well worth it. In Coz, take a cab to one of the beaches, or go to Chankanaab Park where the entrance fee is around $12 per person; great place to spend the day! rwpneon Posted August 15, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 15, 2010 A couple of years ago, my wife and I rented a motor scooter so we could tour the island. It was fun but a bit probably a bit risky.

summergal Posted August 15, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2010 Is Calica closer to Passion Island than Cozumel? If so I would go there. I have done Xcaret 2 times and loved them both. Can't go wrong with that at Calica. Tulum is also and excellent choice.
NavarreCruiser Posted August 15, 2010 #8 Share Posted August 15, 2010 We rented a Jeep at the port in Calica. There were 4 of us and it was about $75.00. Then we went to Tulum and Play del Carmen. With the fee at Tulum and gas it was under $130.00 for 4 people. That's under $40.00 a piece for two different locations. The cab was like $10.00 a piece just to go to the beach at Playa del Carmen. Had a great day and you really can't get lost, ther is only one highway that runs up and down the coast. Lynda

txemptynesters Posted August 15, 2010 #11 Share Posted August 15, 2010 We're trying Nachi Cochum in 2 weeks in Cozumel. Read lots of good reviews here and on Trip Advisor. $49 pp and you pay $12 on line to hold your space and the remainder when you get there. Includes meals, drinks/alcohol and is a private beach. They only allow 100 people and looks like frequently have alot less than that.
Wickedwill Posted August 15, 2010 #12 Share Posted August 15, 2010 Any suggestions on what to do for a reasonable price at these 2 stops. Any ideas will be appreciated. When we were in Calica a few years ago we did an ATV/Ceynote tour through Island Marketing Ltd. Seems it wasn't terribly pricey ($60/PP?) and we had a great time.
