Recommended Posts

I leave on my first cruise in two and a half weeks and I’m a huge over planner so I’m starting to pack now. I am looking for help making my check list and things not to forget. What are the thing I need to remember?

Once you are packed.. remove half of it..then remove half of that and you will be set;)

Just remember your passport.. or other ID.. DL and BC.. and funpass :)

Caribbean cruise? i bring 14 pairs of underwear for a 7 days cruise because you change your clothes so much. For instance you might get up and get dressed and go have breakfast....then decide to go in pool so you change....then you may go get dressed to go play bingo or go to the casino so there is a example on changing alot. You can put on same shorts or skirt twice or more but not underwear. I say 4 bathing suits because they take along time to dry. Trust me pack somewhat light , don't go crazy.;)

Since we usually drive to our ports, we have no need to pack light. That being said, most of the gadgets suggested are not only not necessary, you will not use them. Do take a flashlight and an alarm clock. The clock is nice to have as there are no clocks in the staterooms. The flashlight could be a lifesaver in the even of a fire on board.

I purchased some of those Space Saver bags for my last cruise and I really like them. So if you are having a hard time getting everything in there, try using those. Just try not to over pack and be over weight.

Here are some things I try not to forget...

small sewing kit(needle w/ black & white thread)

antacids and any other meds you take on a regular basis

bandaids

bug spray if your doing any excursions that might have them

phone chargers

glass case in case you go swimming so your lenses don't get scratched

backpack

You will definately over pack...LOL mix/match clothing where you can

Have a wonderful cruise!!

blondeonboard-I'm with jerseyshore, two pairs undies for everyday, and after that ..this is what i do....

When I board, I wear what ever is heaviest, now I know you are going in the summer, and I am sailing in the winter, but this is my example

I wear the tennis shoes on to the ship, they weigh more than sandals....I look at how many times I might be needing a bathing suit on my excursions, 4 times, then pack two.

Will I dress up for dinner? Will I want to wear heels every night, well for (5 days) i pack two pairs, and match the dresses to the two pairs, if I am (or just black, that helps) not going to dress up alot, then it's one pair, and a nice pair of sandals...how many excursions will involve, walking, tree climbing, mountain climbing? That's where the sneakers come in, and then socks. Will I go to tea, nice dress, will I hang out on the deck, maybe a cover up so I can sneak into the lido restaurant. Check out a Fun Times for your ship, plan a little of your day, and then ask, well if I pack XYZ, at what other day or event can I wear that? And then think it all over again. You are two and a half weeks away, I'm so anal I am working on a packing list for 4 months away. One thing that I really MUST pack are my battery operated candles. I put one in the bathroom at night, near the mirror so that it appears brighter, and then I can open the door without turning on a bright light and wake the hubby, the other I put near the mirror on the dresser, so that it works as a night light. Oh, and if you have long hair like I do, definitely bring some bands to tie it up with....I either light mine on fire:eek: when trying to light a cigarette outside, or I end up eating have off it:mad:. The wind is quite brisk on the decks when you are moving. Have fun...

Pack two swim suits. You don't want to put one on that is still wet from the day before.

Pack your patience. You'll have to stand in line for food and other items. Just be patient with some of the stupid passengers on board.

For some reason, that made me LOL! Like it's a law or something that you can't put underwear back on! :D

I didn't do that much changing on my first cruise, so maybe that's why 14 pairs of underwear struck me as funny!

I won't be taking that many on my 7-day in December, either.

This is my list and sometimes I don't bring everything especially a short 3 day cruise but gives you an idea of some things you may not have thought about.

Power Strip or 3 outlet plug

Highlighter

Journal/Diary for keeping notes for cc review

Post it Notes for cabin steward notes or family

Cruise Docs

ID, passports (& waterproof wallet)

Money (Cash, Credit Cards) (dollar bills for tipping)

Portable Clock

Sunscreen Lotion

Contact Phone Numbers (tours, airport, car service, family, etc)

Extra Film/Memory Cards/video tapes

Tall coffee sipper

Nightlight

Hand Sanitizer

Camera and chargers (video & digital) maybe tripod

A small 1st aid kit with bandaids/ibuprofen/Neosporin/alcohol wipes/gas-x

binoculars

Cable ties (colored)

Zip Lock Bags

Ear plugs

Batteries

Lip balm

Dental floss picks

Razors

His/Her deodorant

Perfume/Cologne

Shampoo/Conditioner

Combs/brushes

hair ponies

make up

Curling iron

Q Tips

Moisturizers

Vitamins/Medications

Flashlight (Mini-Mag)

pens

Sunglasses

Swim shoes

Belts

PJ's/sleepwear

book

A lot of this stuff doesn't take up much room and is a life saver. For more than 2 people in a cabin, bring over the door shoe holder to organize all this stuff & keep it off the counters to avoid clutter.

For clothing, a lot of the stuff will be worn multiple times and you wear your swimming suit a lot. Pack less clothing than you think you need for sure.
