How do you get to the pier in Galveston?

Looking for info from those experienced with cruising out of Galveston. How did you get to the pier? Did you stay over in the area the night before? Where? What did you pay?

We stayed at the Tremont in Galveston. Got it for $75 through priceline. It is about four blocks from the peir. You can see the ship real good from their balconey in the morning. We drove over to the terminal and dropped the bags and then the guy with us took the truck to the terminal parking area while we waited for him. It seems to be pretty easy to get around in Galveston as there are not that many streets and it is not a huge town.

We've stayed at both Hotel Galvez and the Commodore in Galveston. Each provided transportation to and from the pier, as well, parking during the cruise.

So, we'd have to have transportation to a hotel (if we come in the night before) and then again to the pier. OR ... we'd have to have transportation from the airport right to the pier.

What's the most economical way to get from an airport in Houston (either IAH or Hobby) to the pier in Galveston? Also ... we may have a party of 6 to move.
