alleghator Posted February 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2005 Looking for info from those experienced with cruising out of Galveston. How did you get to the pier? Did you stay over in the area the night before? Where? What did you pay? Thanks! --Heidi
tjohn159d Posted February 12, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2005 We stayed at the Tremont in Galveston. Got it for $75 through priceline. It is about four blocks from the peir. You can see the ship real good from their balconey in the morning. We drove over to the terminal and dropped the bags and then the guy with us took the truck to the terminal parking area while we waited for him. It seems to be pretty easy to get around in Galveston as there are not that many streets and it is not a huge town.
runner1909 Posted February 12, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2005 We've stayed at both Hotel Galvez and the Commodore in Galveston. Each provided transportation to and from the pier, as well, parking during the cruise.
alleghator Posted February 12, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted February 12, 2005 So, we'd have to have transportation to a hotel (if we come in the night before) and then again to the pier. OR ... we'd have to have transportation from the airport right to the pier. --Heidi
derf5585 Posted February 13, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2005 Ships dock at the Port of Galveston, which runs right alongside the Strand District from http://www.cruisecritic.com/ports/newport.cfm?ID=
alleghator Posted February 13, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted February 13, 2005 What's the most economical way to get from an airport in Houston (either IAH or Hobby) to the pier in Galveston? Also ... we may have a party of 6 to move. --Heidi
