terryde Posted August 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2010 I have read some that ships may not be able to port here due to wind. How many were not able to port recently on the Dream?
cruznlobo Posted August 20, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2010 We are supposed to stop here next January on the Dream. We missed this port 2 years ago because of winds.
Rare crewsweeper Posted August 23, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2010 If the winds are bad and the wave action is strong, no ship will stop here. the configuration of the pier makes it so that ships have to manuvuer on their own to get into the dock using their side thrusters. Shhallowness of the water creates an extra long pier but not usable for cruise ships. I believe the pier can handle 3 ships, and only one can reach the pier heading in, others have to angle in and dock sideways. But it's anybody's guess if wave or wind will prevent ships from docking on any given day.

May not be related ot size of ship. BTW Hurricane season doesn't end until December. Plenty of late season storms. Hope your cruise is clear sailing though.:)

This happened to us in July. It was extremely windy 45mph over the pool deck! It was raining hard for a while and then the captain moved east. See photo below.
