grey's girl Posted August 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Does anyone remember how Airtran boards their planes? Back to front? Window, middle, aisle? We've flown with them in the past, but just can't remember. In order to get overhead bin space, we normally sit near the rear of the plane. I already have seats assigned but can change them if necessary. Thanks!
6rugrats Posted August 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2010 AirTran uses a rotating zone boarding system. Business passengers board first. Then passengers in the last five rows of coach are boarded, followed by passengers in the first five rows of coach, and this continues back and forth, until everyone is on. FlaGrl4Evr Posted August 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2010 I fly AirTran on a regular basis. For $5 they will give you the Zone 2 boarding, which is right after business and handicapped. I always thought it was silly to pay this when I had an assigned seat but have done it. Mainly it is because so many passengers are trying to sneak in oversized luggage and large and numerous carry-ons therefore taking up the overhead space. Some flights will enfore the carry on rules while others just look the other way. When I flew AirTran in June there was a lady with a clearly oversized pull behind suitcase, her purse, laptop and a shopping bag. Nothing was ever said to her.
