Port Douglas and Four Mile Beach

We have a couple of hours after our excursion in Port Douglas and would like to see Four Mile Beach. How far is it to the beach from the marina? Is there local transportation available and can we get it from the marina?

Port Douglas is a penninsular with the marina , where you tender ashore , on the sheltered river side and 4 mile beach about 4 or 5 blocks over on the other side.

Its quite walkable, but if you are on an excursion that comes back to the marina, the driver will usually ask if anyone wants to get off at the shops or at the marina. At least thats what has happened on our last 2 cruises there.The beach is at the bottom of the main shopping street , and then stretches from there down the coast for several miles.

If you go to Google maps and zoom in on the satelite pic , you can pick it all out.

Thanks, Kiwi. I thought maybe we could walk it, but sometimes it is longer than it looks on the google maps.
