B748 or Mini-suite?

Looking at class AB mini-suites or B748 on Emerald. I have been in a mini-suite before, but never in an aft cabin? Does anyone have an opinion as to which is the better way to go? I've ready quite a bit about the aft cabins, but can't make up my mind. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

thats a tough one - we love aft facing cabins and the view is unsurpassed everyone should experience that. Im guessing the cabin is your basic with a shower only and no couch. If you can deal with shower only Id go with the aft cabin and spend a good amt of time out there instead of the couch you wont have!

I've actually been in B748. It wasn't, I hate to say, all I'd hoped. We didn't like the shaking and rattling all night rather than the gentle rolling we were used to. Also, I wasn't fond of the location so far aft -- harder to stop by the cabin during the day. The balcony was great, but not that much more than, say, a Caribe deck balcony or an Emerald mini-suite -- either of which I'd choose over B748 if given the choice.

I really can't answer your question - yet. After 7 cruises, and 7 mini suites (which we loved) our next two cruises are in C753 and C748 - aft facing cabins. We lived through a standard balcony cabin on a Carnival cruise last fall and a balcony cabin on the Royal Princess (no minis) earlier this year, so we figured we could survive - we'll see :-) I sure will miss that free glass of champagne (?) at sail away though....

We have sailed 3 times in a mini and once in a regular balcony on Princess. We have a corner aft on Caribe on our upcoming cruise in October. We wanted to be able to find out what all the fuss is about with those aft cabins. We have been pretty happy with the minis on the end on the Emerald deck and have one booked again for 2012.

We had D417 mini and B749 (flip side of B748) aft cabin.

Dolphin mini was nice. Larger cabin with tub/shower, couch and 2 TVs.

But underway the 'uncovered balcony' was sometimes windy and at times

unusable because of wind, rain showers and ship's heading...at least

on our trip.

Corner Aft B749 balcony, like corner Aft B748, is a covered balcony,

always calm and huge. The trade off for no couch is being able to seat

4 people out on the balcony anytime.

The 'corner' aft balconies seem so private that it is almost like being

on your own ship. Now, you need to walk some from the elevator to get

back to your 'private ship' but the small walk was not a deal-breaker

for us.

The ship's wake, to me, is mesmerizing and was somewhat louder

than I expected...but relaxing on the balcony, sipping wine, sipping

wine, sipping wine... Oh and the sunsets....wow, Wow, WOW!

They are quite different experiences...glad we tried both.

I lean toward Aft cabins...my wife surely enjoyed the larger mid-ship

mini suite....we recommend a covered balcony in any case.

Try one now, one later. :D:D

Enjoy your cruise.
