Recommended Posts

I would love to see pics from onboard this ship. We are planning on going in August to Bermuda. It will be our delayed honeymoon (after almost 20 years):o

Wow! You have us beat... we just took our honeymoon cruise Feb 6 after 7.5 years... thought I had to wait a long time!

I have found the best place to find ship, cabin, balcony and port pics is on WebShots. Below is the link to my photo page...

I never thought I'd get one.....

Life just happened really fast. He was in the Marine Corps when we got married and we just didn't have the money or time. We thought we'd wait until he got out the following year. The following year when he got out, I found out I was pregnant. Then we thought we'd wait about 5 years to go without the baby. Well, in just 3 short years, I found out I was pregnant again with twins!

Life just took over from there. Our girls are 16 (almost 17) and 13.

They are incredibly busy and take a lot of our time.

I gave my oldest daughter the choice of a "Sweet 16" party or a cruise last year and she took the cruise, so her and I went. It was my first and only cruise. I'm hooked!

So this year, we decided to take our loooooooong overdue honeymoon - no kids!
could you tell me what you wear the first night for Dinner
Could you wear blue Jean capri's in the main dining area or do you have to dress up?
It wil probably be a bit cooler in May when departing in NYC
First night is just about anything goes (within reason). Some folks will not even have their luggage in their rooms before dinner.

Same here. We got married when my daughters were 5 & 7 and they were not letting there new daddy out of their site! So we decided to wait and then life just got really busy. So last Feb we took the girls on a family cruise. Loved it so much we booked our honeymoon cruise before we even got off the ship! We are so hooked and look forward to cruising again next Feb!
Enjoy the NO KIDS time.. you'll be amazed at how relaxed you'll be after Day 2 when you finally stop looking behind you for the kids ;) I kept turning to tell them something or say "look at that"!

For some great pictures and video of Explorer and a slew of other ships, go to "CruisingwithRadio.com" (remove the quotation marks). Radio does live reviews of every cruise he sails. If my fleeting memory serves me correctly, there are 2 review/photo sessions from Explorer on his site. I know you'll love this ship, my family and I do. Not only is is she in great shape for a mature (read 10 year old) lady but her crew is probably the best on the water.
We were just on the 9/11 Explorer 5 day to Bermuda. We drove down from MA and arrived at the terminal at 11:10, porters came immediately to take the luggage, my DH went to park the truck and was back in 5 minutes while I waited w/the carry-ons. About 30 people were waiting to be let into the terminal building. Once inside & checked in, with only 1 couple ahead of us in our line, we waited no more then 10 minutes to be called onto the shuttle. We were on the Explorer by about 11:45am.

I will admit that I didn't look through eight pages to see if anyone else had commented on the above post. I have read where some people show up to the port around 10:00 or 10:30 to check-in, but this post would suggest that the terminal may not be open until around 11:30. What time are people actually able to enter the terminal to check-in, and wait for the shuttle?

Thanks,

Has anyone recently purchased the wine and cheese platter from Gifts & Gear.
We are taking our first cruise in May and I was thinking it would be nice to have the wine and cheese in our room on arrival. Can anyone tell me if it is worth it?

I don't know exactly how early the terminal is open, but I have seen folks going through security at 8:30 - 9:00 am when I was disembarking. I was on the same cruise as Madison81 - it was very unusual in that the port was practically deserted when we arrived at 10:15 - almost all of the debarking passengers were gone and folks hadn't started to arrive yet. By contrast in Feb the port was jammed at 10:15 with departing and arriving passengers.

I too thank you for the links to pictures. It's just how we remembered it, I can't wait 'til December! I knew there was a reason why we're going back- this ship is awesome!

Booked on EOS sailing 5/26. This is the first time I've ever booked in a gty category (oceanview). RCI has assigned a cabin - 3554 (which I know can change). I did a little searching here and this cabin doesn't seem to have the best reviews in terms of noise. I don't mind but this will be BFs first cruise. Wondering if I should just pay the extra to pick our own cabin.

Thoughts? (I seriously don't care but he is sometimes on the picky side)

I tried asking this on the mega Explorer thread with no results, so I thought I'd try here :). Can any of the Explorer experts tell me if the Royal Family Suites were upgraded at the last "dry dock" or what condition they are currently in? Specifically, we have booked RFS 8394 for April. Thank you for your time and consideration. Soooooo, looking forward to sailing the Explorer! :D

We're just back from this room. I answered this on the other "All things Explorer of the Seas" thread.
We loved it.

Hello Cruisers! I am just about to book the Explorer to Bermuda and I have a few questions about which cabin. There will be 3 of us- myself, my dh and my Mother- ages 50 to 72.

We have a few issues:
myself: some mobility issues plus motion sickness even with remedies
my dh: some mobility
my Mother: mobility (not in wheelchair, but she had knee replaced last year, so she does have moderate issues with sitting, standing and walking)

So with this being my third cruise I know that low and mid-ship are best for motion sickness. It's unfortunate but we have a tighter budget this year and for this cruise, so no Junior Suite. But its a def YES to Balcony- my Mother loves her balcony plus this always availability to the fresh air helps with my motion sickness. I would also prefer the clear balcony on deck 7 verses 6.

So looking at best choices for 3rd bed and I see a lot of "pullman more comfy than sofa bed" opinions....but with mobility issues, not sure if pullman is best....can you experienced cruisers give me your thoughts on this.

Also I would love your opinions on best deck/area based on issues above. I have narrowed general cabin choices down to these three:

Balcony Aft deck 7 with sofa bed ( I didn't see sofa bed mid-ship)

Balcony Mid ship deck 7 with pullman

Balcony Mid ship deck 9 with sofa bed

....I didn't think accessible was possible with no wheelchair and if so didn't want to take it from someone in a wheelchair....thoughts on this

Since this is my first on RC and on Explorer, sorry for any ignorance or incorrect info (I also get a little confused on E1 verses D1-I guess I need to do more research:)

So....opinions are welcome

Thanks in advance
