My question is we will be flying in the night before our Victory cruise. We are staying at the Conrad Hilton (we have points). We would like to check out Old San Juan prior to the cruise. Can we checkin on the ship, leave our luggage, go off the ship and check out Old San Juan. We would then return to the ship before departure...?

Yes, we did this twice and are planning on going on AUG. 29th- Yeah 4 more days!!! We enjoyed OSJ so much both times that we are staying a night pre and post cruise in OSJ. I have Hilton honors points also, but the rooms are so reasonable in OSJ it is well worth it to be there and experience it. Last yr we only stayed pre-cruise one night, but went to the ship checked on about noon, left our carry on bags and went out until about 8:30 p.m. We loved walking also around the walls at night of the fort. THey have them all lit up so pretty. I will try to figure out how to add a photo here and show you:o

The Conrad Hiltojn is very nice- you will like it. There are three pools, a nice little cove beach area, lots of bars and restaurants, and a casino. You can walk into the Condado area if you choose. Old San Juan is a short taxi hop away. If there are any ships departing the night before you depart, mkae sure you watch them sail by in the evening from your hotel. I think Victory sails on the first weekend evening though, so you may miss that. We watched her sail by when we stayed at Conrad and it was a beautiful sight.

If you check out too early to check your luggage on the ship, there is a place by the pier where you can check your luggage for the day also. Most hotels let you keep your luggage there free of charge. In your case, it's probably not worth the time and expense to go back and get it though.

Enjoy!

I was going to ask the same question. Thanks for the reply. Our ship (Adventure of the Seas) does not leave until 8;30 pm and I was wondering what to do with luggage while we visited Old San Juan.

So, we can check in on the ship ... even though the book says no check in until 4:30? Even if we can just leave the luggage at the ship, and get a taxi into town sounds good. But won't we be going back and forth a bunch? Would it be best to leave tje luggage at the hotel?

Un oh, I'm confusing myself! Any suggestion of what is best?

If you board your ship at the dock in Old San Juan, there is no need to take a taxi, the old city and all there is to do is right off the peir. But if you get on your ship at the other pier it would be a taxi ride there and back. Carnival docks in OSJ and some other ships do too. Not sure of them all though.

  • 3 weeks later...

Adventure of the Seas docks at the Pan American pier which is not the pier in Old San Juan directly. If you are staying in OSJ the night before, you can leave your luggage at the hotel while you go around OSJ. I'm not sure about checking in at the ship then heading over to OSJ, it would depend on how early you arrive at the pier. Keep in mind you have to be onboard within a certain period of time before you sail.

if you haven't already left, have a great cruise! AOS is an awesome ship!!!
