I have read on this site about so many people having on board credits when they sail. We are going on our first cruise in October...how do you get these OBC's (other than room rate reduction credit for those who got in early).

That's typically it... If you get a refund on the ship say for a pre-paid excursion or something they will give the credit back.

If you own 100 shares of Carnival stock...If you purchased a future cruise certificate on a previous ship. Those are a few

Can't you call Carnival and prepay (put a credit on your S & S card)? So anything you purchase on the ship, photos, drinks, etc. will come out of that credit that you already prepaid?

I prepay my S&S card (by calling Carnivals Special Programs and Promotions department) prior to the cruise. I just like to pay whatever I can ahead of time.

 

I think you can pay in $25 $50 or $100 increments.

OP is referring to sailing and having onboard credit. You always want to have your S&S set up before cruising. You may pay it off the last night of the cruise with another credit or debit card, or cash.

Future Cruise Certificate, some booking give a small amount of OBC or 2 decks up with same type cabin. If your cabin price goes down you can get the difference. Now for the credit on the S&S card for the casino different ball game for some cruises.

Virtually all of mine has come from booking ES and then making claims to get OBC. $450 last cruise...
