Help with our post cruise stay

Hi all -

We would like to stay a bit longer after our PG cruise next year, but we have a few questions.

We are trying to decide between Bora Bora and Moorea - any opinions on which is better (we like to snorkel, beach and will generally be lazy)?

Has anyone ever done post cruise stays on two islands? That is, instead of 3 nights post cruise, stay 6 nights in two different places? I wonder if that's even an option.

I'm not exactly how this all works, disembarking, transfers, flights, etc so any insight would be helpful. Thank you!

I would strongly recommend consulting with a travel specialist who is familiar with the French Polynesia.

My personal opinion is that I wouldn't want to be bothered hauling my luggage around between multiple properties during such a short time!

Find the place you like, and relax!

If it were me, I'd head back to Moorea immediately upon debarking the PG. We met people on our 6/26 sailing who did just that - after debarking about Noon, they headed right next door to the ferry dock and sailed back to Moorea - perhaps a half hour ride on the fast ferry - and taxied to their hotel on Moorea. I would definitely like to stay a week at the Hilton Moorea. You say you like snorkeling, well, the lagoon in front of the Hilton is the best snorkeling on the island, IMO. It has the added advantage of being so close to the big island of Tahiti, that there are several ferries scheduled every day, and it would not be a big deal to leave the hotel and make it back in time for your evening plane ride to the US.Bora Bora is beautiful of course, but a much longer distance away from Papeete, and you would have to take a plane, at considerable extra cost. There is much more to do in Moorea as far as attractions, beaches, shopping, and good restaurants.

We are actually sailing on 29 June 2011 and we booked post-cruise accommodation with PG at the InterContinental Moorea. From my understanding you stay on the boat, have lunch and they transfer you to the ferry. When you arrive in Moorea someone is there waiting for you and takes you to your hotel. We are staying in the OWB and they have just finished a major renovation at the IC.
