altiva Posted April 5, 2013 Author #226 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Kamyanets-Podilsky is an ancient Ukrainian town. It was founded in 12 century, obtained Magdeburg rights in 1347. Now, it's famous for its old fortress, old town centre, Guildhall, cathedral, and an Art museum and an archeological exhibition. It's about 8 hours drive from Odesa. If you want to tour Kamyanets-Podilsky, you will need an overnight stop (they have really nice hotels down there). What: Kamyanets-Podilsky, old town, old fortress. When: whenever you got there. Where: Kamyanets-Podilsky, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Ukraine Ukraine - breathtakingly beautiful. rialannah Posted April 26, 2013 #227 Share Posted April 26, 2013 Altiva I note that over time you have provided program information for the Odessa Opera House. We are travelling on the Azamara Journey next month and are scheduled to attend a performance on Thursday 30 May. Are you able to help me with the program scheduled for that evening? Thank you. Thank you. hi rialannah, I did not respond to your request because my account was suspended. My account was suspended because I protested against the racially offensive term "the Ukraine", which is in use on this forum. I am sorry I could not help you. altiva Posted July 19, 2013 Author #229 Share Posted July 19, 2013 Because the administration of this forum and users blatantly refused to stop using the racially offensive term "The Ukraine", and even made fun of it, openly mocking millions of dead Ukrainians, and humiliating them, I announce that I will not continue with this post until the use of this racial slur is banned on this forum. The name of this European country is "Ukraine". I was told that people "didn't know". Well, the "n" word is not known in Europe as an offensive slur either. Yet, if you try to type it, only *** comes up. If it was possible to block this name, it's possible to block the offensive "the Ukraine" term as well, which is much worse than the "n" word. Yet, it was not done. This forum promotes racist in two forms, first, allowing the racially offensive slur to be openly posted on here, and blocking only the racial slurs which originate in the USA. When I protested against the use of this word, I was mocked, humiliated, blocked and reported on this form. One man even compared it with "buying wine". 10 to 16 starved to death Ukrainians are not wine. Their country is a country, like France, Italy, Germany, and doesn't need any "the" in front of its name. I demand the blocking of this offensive, humiliating expression on this form. Avida Posted July 19, 2013 #230 Share Posted July 19, 2013 I am sorry to see that you are no longer to post on the thread. You have provided a great deal of information on Ukraine, the p[laces to visit and been very helpful in responding to questions about the country. It is unfortunate that some posters have put the word 'the' in front of the name of the country but I am sure that this is of ignorance as for example in the UK it has always been referred to in this way. Hopefully you might reconsider your decision and other readers will note that referring to Ukraine in this way is offensive. All the best Bryan
