If you get of in Jamaica, please book through a tour guide with Carnvial. Please see the link I started because of bad experiences in Jamaica (and read to decide for yourself).

You can search the thread for "Should Carnival take Jamaica off its roster"

You really need to look at all your options just like you are doing. We have booked excursions on our own and saved a lot of money (ie Tortola Dolphin Swim, Nassau Pirate Museum). We have also booked through the cruiseline when it was a limited excursion and/or the price difference was minimal (ie Cozumel Twister Boat to Isla Passion and Antigua Jeep tour). We have also gone off on our with no excursion, taking a taxi to the beach (ie Cozumel - Mr. Sanchos and Paradise Beach) or just walking around the port (ie Nassau and San Juan). Do your research and check out the Port of Call boards. Most of all have fun :D.

That plan has worked for us also. It's fun to look around getting ready for the cruise and finding the best fit for us. BTW the only excursions that we have booked that have ever been late getting back to the ship where booked through the ship. Yes the shipped waited and we got the hooten and hollering from the other pax hanging on the rails.

Well, we have booked our excursions. We booked a private charter thru Dream Chasers charters. The price is great and is a 4 to 5 hour trip. Snorkeling, swimming and sailing. Basically whatever we want to do. We have booked Captain Marvins in the Grand Caymans. Captain Marvins has awesome reviews on CC and tripadvisor and Dream Chaser charters has great reviews on tripadvisor. Getting really excited now. Ready for Oct 3rd.

Thanks for all the advice!! ;)
