VOS- Wasting valuable packing space with hockey 'sfuff'?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I've given up arguing with my husband about bring his own skates- even though VOS supplies them... but NOW he wants to bring his hockey stick and a puck!!
Is there any chance in %$!@ he's going to actually be able to use them?
... Or is he just gonna take up valuable space in our luggage where my extra shoes could go??

i highly highly doubt they would allow someone to use a hockey stick in the rink, its not very large for one thing and whats he gonna do with it anyway there are no nets and no one else will have sticks...the rink is just used for skating

If you knew anything about hockey, you dont need a net or other people to have sticks with you. Its about practicing puck control. Besides I would by a stick in Miami. I am sure there is a sporting goods store somewhere in that city, especially after Tampa winning the Cup this year.

They will not allow the stick or the puck on the ice. Not only that, it's a pain to fly with a stick, some airports don't even allow them. I know this because my nephew plays hockey and they have to fly to an out-of-the-way airport and then take a bus to the city they want to go to. Don't remember which one, in Canada on the East side.
I'd do the skates if weight isn't a problem. If I remember correctly all they have are figure skates (could've changed in the last four years). The blades were dull when we went. Make sure you pack long pants, no shorts are allowed on the ice.

Just show your husband the web site for your airline and show him the weight restrictions. Im sure he may change his mind
but if not--make him carry his own stuff.

I would recommend the skates but definitely not the puck or the stick. The only time he may and I stress May be able to use the gear is during advance skate but I doubt they will let him. We did take our own hockey skates on the NOS and would highly reccommend it.
