cherlynn11 Posted August 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2010 What would you recommend for 13 and 16 yr old to do as a shore excursion in the port of grand cayman?

Talli Posted August 27, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2010 We are renting jet ski's to take us to sting ray city and to rum point beach! My 13 year DD is very jealous and wants to go with us just to do this excursion! But this is a mommy and daddy vacation only, and much needed. Oh, we booked through Island Marketing. mango222 Posted September 4, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2010 We were there a week ago yesterday with our kids aged 11 and 15. We booked a private stingray/reef tour and the kids have not stopped talking about it. They loved the stingrays (and so did we!!).
lovevacadays Posted September 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 5, 2010 Any land tours there probably wouldn't be of interest to teenagers. I would book one of the Stingray City tours, snorkeling tours, etc. Not too much of interest on land for teenagers.
cath32 Posted September 6, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2010 We just got back and did the stingray and snorkelling trip with 3 teenagers - 13, 15 and 17 - with Stingray Sailing. They all had a great time!
Cuizer2 Posted September 6, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 6, 2010 How about for younger kids?I have a 5 year old daughter who isn't very adventurous... Anyone take their younger kids to Stingray City? Young kids can be intimidated by stingrays for several reasons ... 1) The name alone is going to get to them. 2) They are not cute and furry. 3) Their size. 4) They like to get close to people and for little kids it works better the other way around. The following pictures are all from Stingray City ... The boy is ten years old. Don't know how old that boy is. One of those boys is five or six and at first was not willing to get in the water with the stingrays, but later warmed up to it. The child (or anyone else) can stay in the boat if they choose. However, there is a reason this tour is very popular. It is fun. I have done it twice in Grand Cayman and three other times at three other islands. Of the four places I have swum with the stingrays, Grand Cayman is the best. The stingrays are like cats, they like to rub next to you looking for food. They eat with a strong suction and thus any loose fingers can get in their mouth. They don't have teeth, so I still have all my fingers. However, it can be a bit scary when it happens. There are ways to feed them where your fingers will not get sucked into their mouths. They feel very soft. When you walk, don't pick you feet up (you do the stingray shuffle) that way you will not accidentally step on them, which is the only way you are going to get stung.
