Just got back today from the New England - Canada trip. We had a great time (family of 4 with 2 boys ages 17 and 21)

Very organized and smooth arriving in Brooklyn - we parked our car and were on the ship in 5 minutes arriving at 12:30PM. Had lunch in the Coral dining room and then roamed the ship. They give you a card to get stamped at 10 locations on the ship and then you enter this card for a drawing at the sailaway party. Lots of fun running around ship and good way to learn with everything is.

Went to first dinner (anytime dining) and it was a disaster. The service was soooo slow, it took us over 2 hours to eat. Probably one hour before we got any food. There was a huge line all night with people waiting to get in. I would recommend doing buffet first night. There was never a line any other night, so I guess everyone decided to eat in the dining room the first night. Saw the comedian Phil Tag (very very funny)

Newport - Unfortunately our first souvenir was 4 umbrellas in Newport. However we were determined. We walked to the Cliff Walk and the rain did subside. We walked about 1.5 miles along the beautiful coastline to The Breakers. Even with the not so great weather, I loved seeing this beautiful place. Then we toured The Breakers, always interesting to see how the other half lives. We took the local Newport bus (#67) back to the ship. At this point it was really pouring and the line for the tenders was really long. We decided to get a bite at Panera Bread (free Wifi also) and wait out the rain and line. The plan worked and we waited about 10 minutes for the tender.

We decided not to do eat in the dining room and did buffet this night.

Comedian Phil Tag had a new show tonight and we went to the show. We then found the GREATEST part of the cruise and spent almost every night at the Crooners Bar. Piano Man Martin Kaye is sensational. He has a charismatic personality and is extremely entertaining. The seats fill up fast, but we lucked out on a few of the nights.

Boston - This was the worst weather day of the whole week, but we were determined to make the best tasting lemonade from our lemons. We took the Silver Bus line (right outside the ship - $2.00 per person) to the South Street stop (Red line (free transfer)) and then switched to the Green line to Park. This is where the Freedom Trail begins. We followed the trail to Fanuiel hall, but then decided that the weather was just too bad to continue outside. Back on the Green line to Kenmore Square and Fenway Park. We were able to get tickets for the last tour of the day. Great tour and my hubby and boys were ecstatic. We then retraced our steps Green Line to Red line to Silver Bus line. (I did live in Boston for 4 years so I knew my way around)

Dinner at the Buffet again and we took in the shows and a little bit of casino tonight - followed by my favorite Martin Kaye.

Bar Harbor - BEAUTIFUL WEATHER - We were really getting worried. Took the 10:30 am Oli's trolley's tour to Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain. You should definitely book this tour in advance because they fill up real fast. Good tour and tour guide. There is a free bus in Bar Harbor that takes you to the Park, but it is not guided. This tour is well worth it. We then walked around town and ate Lobster at one of the local eatery's. Great walking town and lots of good souvenirs to buy. We also went to a beer tasting shop which my 21 year old really liked. We ate in the dining room tonight and it was much much better. Martin Kaye had a show in the Explorers lounge doing Elton John songs. We weren't able to get a seat, but had a view of his butt the whole show.

I will post part 2 later. More than happy to answer any questions.

Agree with the buffet the first night. Plus the buffet had unlimited lobster claws then.
