12/10 Post cruise hotel & tours, info please!

We just booked our cruise on the Carnival Triumph for 12/11/10. We are planning a post cruise stay in NOLA with our 3 children ages 12, 9, and 2. Looking for a hotel near attractions where parking does not cost me an arm and a leg! :rolleyes: The kids are interested in a city tour. The one tour operator I have contacted is a little out of our buget as they are charging $70 for both adults and our oldest child and $35 for both my 9 y/o and my 2 y/o. Looking for something a little less expensive!:o We are also considering Mardi Gras World and one of the plantations. The kids are not interested in the aquarium as we live close to the TN Aquarium and go there often. They are more interested in the history of NOLA. Any suggestions of additional areas that would be good places to visit would be appreciated. We are only planning a short 2 day stay so we want to hit the highlights! Thanks in advance for your input!
