Rare 1985rz1 Posted February 14, 2011 #51 Share Posted February 14, 2011 Does anyone have suggestions for whale watching? There are so many companies and so many shore ex offered and at different ports. We've booked a 3-hour whale watching cruise with Misty Bay (Hope is the owner/contact) from Hoonah on June 10, as part of our June 7 sailing on the Regatta, Vancouver to Vancouver. Fishes is another option there. We went with Misty Bay because it takes credit cards and Fishes takes only cash or checks. Otherwise the tours looked equivalent. Wannaknow Posted February 15, 2011 #52 Share Posted February 15, 2011 What a great thread for us newbies going to Alaska on Oceania! Thank you all so much. frqttrvlr09 thanks for all the great suggestions of what to do and the background on the ports. Would love to have you chime in any time. wripro Posted February 15, 2011 #53 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Also check the roll calls for your particular cruise. Lots of info there.
shedridt Posted March 24, 2011 #54 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Responding to an earlier response regarding Seabourn vs Oceania, we loved our cruises on both lines, our most recent being Seabourn Lisbon to Nice April 2010. Perhaps they changed the smoking policy in the lounge as it was no problem at all, although the evening cigar smokers on deck were a little less than considerate. I am hyper-sensitive to cigar AND cigarette smoke & do not recall it being at all a problem in entertainment areas. My thinking on price is that it's almost a wash as Seabourn is all-inclusive. Both lines do everything right & fellow passengers are great - not out to impress. We are really looking forward to being back on board with Oceania in late June.
