how to get to Garden of the Groves, Freeport

Is it walking distance from the cruise ship dock to the Garden of the Groves? If we need to take a taxi, will we be able to find one to take us back to the ship on time? Is public transportation an option and if so, is it easy for a first-time visitor to navigate? If there is time, is there a nice beach nearby to hang out?

Garden of the Groves is, unfortunately, not near the cruise dock. The dock in Freeport is in the middle of nowhere. The taxi would be quite expensive because I believe the gardens are at least 45 minutes away! We were there last spring and took an excursion for the ship. There isn't really any public transportation to get there either. As for beaches, I couldn't tell you as we did the shore excursion to the Gardens and then to this little shopping area. We're not beach people! Good luck with your plans.
