BP Oil Spill's Reach to Cozumel

Hi guys, I am planning a vacation that involves the port of Cozumel. Being that the oil spill is capped but has since moved and originated in the Gulf, I was wondering if it has had any direct impact on Mexico, Cozumel in particular. By that I am wondering if the waters have been affected or the vacation experience in anyway. Based on reports of the oil traveling eastward along the U.S. border toward Florida it is hard to believe that this is the case, but I was unable to find any relevant topics online regarding this matter. I would appreciate any insight regarding the question. Thank you all!

I was in Cozumel last week and the water was beautiful and clear.

Zero impact, it is all well north of there.

The direction of the currents probably would have prevented it from drifting there anyway. Plus it's closer to the eastern US Gulf Coast than Coz or the Yucatan.

No effect. WE came through all the oil rigs on the way over from Mobile, I was amazed to see just how many of those things are out there...:eek:

It's more likely to affect Hawaii than Cozumel, which is virtually impossible. Ocean tides would move it around Florida first, up the East coast and eventually into the Atlantic.
