Splinter Posted October 22, 2010 #26 Share Posted October 22, 2010 If you ask the Hotel Manager [if you're in a standard cabin] for a ramp into the bathroom [rather than stepping up], they will find something for you. I know, we've done it. We also fold DH's wheelchair and I wheel it to the veranda or I call the Steward and he stashes it and, when we want to leave our cabin - a quick call to him and it's there in a flash.[/color Unless you are in a large suite, I don't see how you could ramp a standard cabin bathroom. There is not enough room....a 6" lip (common) would require at least a 6 foot ramp. In addition, most bathroom doors in standard cabins are way too narrow for a wheelchair....many are only 20" wide. Much less the fact that there is not enough floor space in the typical bathroom to even sit in a wheelchair, much less manuever it.

The step-up into the bathroom is very doable-not for a wheelchair but for the person who can not "step-up" like my DH. Just the step-up to the bathroom is a huge hurdle for him. The steward brought a step [something we had to avoid when walking or dressing in the hallway, because they are very narrow] but, it made going into the bathroom much more doable.
