From the cruise ship terminal to the maritime museum that seems to be up the road. Does any know how any ways to travel that far? Traveling with someone who is partial disable. I have looked into the FRED bus and from what i gather they dont run them that often and can be a bit crowed so therefore i was looking into other options like a taxi

I live in Halifax. It is not far from Pier 21 to the Maritime Museum but if walking is not an option a taxi would be a good choice. It would be about a 15 minute walk at a slow pace and only a few dollars by taxi. I would think there would be lots of cabs at the port when your ship is in. I don't know how often the FRED (Free Rides Everywhere Downtown) bus runs but it would be a good and free way to see lots of downtown but I don't think I would use it to a the best way to get from the Pier to the museum.

Have a great visit to Halifax.

Have you considered renting or borrowing a wheelchair. It is level along the waterfront from the pier to the museum.

I have not taken such a short taxi ride, but it should be well under $10. They probably will take US$ but ask before getting in.

There are lots of taxis outside - it was $10 to the casino and that's a little further, so wouldn't be any more than that. A better idea for you is to go to the Pier 21 Museum -- it's right there in the terminal and has very little walking involved. It's the Immigration Museum -- the Ellis Island of Canada. As you enter the doors of the terminal, do NOT go out, but look for a desk to the right - check in there -- approx. $12. You take an elevator up, listen to a quick informational speaker, tour around one floor - seeing old suitcases, dolls, teddies, train info., and then go into a theater to see a 1/2 hr. presentation (seated in French or English). Very nice and very little walking.

The borrowed wheelchair from the ship idea was a good one as even getting off the ship in Halifax is a bit of a walk -- sort of 3 ramps put together to accommodate for the height of the water. Enjoy. Vicki:)

The cab ride should be around $8 for two. Most cabs take credit cards and I would think they will take US$ but it is a good idea to ask first. I think if they take US$ it would be at par, the CAN$ and US$ are not far apart. You could borrow a wheelchair from the ship and take it with you just in case they don't have one at the museum, if you need one.
