realtortraveler Posted September 9, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2010 Five of us are going on the Star Meditterannean Odyssey on Oct. 3 and will end in Rome on October 17. We are staying in Rome for two days and would like to engage a guide to show us around to save us time. Anyone have any referrals for this? Toto2Kansas Posted September 9, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2010 I see a Star Princess roll call for October 5th, but not for October 3rd? If you are sailing on the Star on October 5th, you might check the roll call for this cruise to see if others there might be able to give you a suggestion also. The roll call can be found here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1091799

We have toured with him twice and will tour with him again on the Ruby TA in Oct. Tell him Jerry (the pilot) recommended him.

Anyone have any referrals for this?Realtortraveler We returned last week from a cruise with a stop for Rome. We used All Around Italy tours for a private tour of two people in a comfortable van. Our guide was Peppe. He met us at our ship in Civitavecchia. He was so friendly and so knowledgable! We saw 3 times as much as the ship tour. We went to all the tourist attractions in Rome such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountian, Spanish steps, Pantheon, and too many others to mention. Also, Peppe took us to The Church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola which is not a well known site but magnificent - don't miss this! (Read up on this site at Wikipedia) We also toured the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St Peters Basilica with Fabrizio as our guide on the same day. It was also an excellent tour. Fabrizio is at the Vatican almost every day and knows so much and how to by-pass the large groups to move you through as quickly as you wish. AllAroundItaly asked us to purchase tickets for the Colosseum and the Vatican in advance on-line to avoid the ticket lines. We did this and definitely saved time when we arrived at the sites. You can contact this excellent tour company at AllAroundItaly.net and they will give a quote for your specific needs. You won't go wrong!
tenmile Posted September 24, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 24, 2010 We are going on the same cruise, the Princess Star on Oct. 5. We have arranged reasonably priced walking tours of the Forum and the Vatican (includes guided tour of the Museum and St. Peter's) through Angel Tours which was recommended on the our CC cruise roll call. Check out http://www.angeltours.com for the tours and prices they offer. Hope to see your party at the CC Meet & Greet on board! :)
