Fifteen hauled off the Destiny this AM in handcuffs...

While I don't condone fighting of any kind...these kind of comments blow me away. WOW...

Sad but true and accurate

Last week on the dream I witnessed 3 fights

Not any reports or coverage

One poor guy in karaoke gut pushed and smacked because he didn't show respect to a person singing. Didn't show respect.

Snotty or not....."bus riders" are increasing in number and the more you have...the more problems that will follow.....

Btw, "bus riders" know no economic, race, cultural or gender classifications....

they are a "culture" all their own...

Hence the importance of a "no cruise list".

Exactly what I was thinking. "Class of people" is just that. A class of people who don't know how to act and end up getting hauled off a cruise ship in handcuffs. The class knows no boundaries.

I totally agree. And my reference to "class" meant how someone acts and not their station in life. Sorry if that sounded bad, probably a bad choice of words on my part.

I agree the best way to handle it is to have the ships staff, particularly security and bar staff, recognize when someone has had too much and cut them off.

As for smuggling, if a person's behavior is causing trouble, I think the security staff should search the cabin and confiscate any liquor.

It's good think that no search warrant is needed on a cruise ship, don't you think? If Carnival wanted to stamp this stuff out, they could.

Just want to point out that you don't have to smuggle alcohol to have it in your room. You can order plenty from Bon Voyage ahead of the cruise. We ordered one bottle for the week and still had some to bring home, but we could have ordered several bottles.

I love crusing and I have been happy on Carnival. I won't be sailing if I think my cabin will be searched for anything without my giving them significant just cause.

Let's slow down here - there is no evidence the brawlers were smugglers, alcoholics, low class (which apparenlty in this thread means people who dont earn alot  ) in fact I would bet they weren't - I have seen on EVERY cruise I have been on people run up absolutely astronomical bar tabs simply because they are on vacation.

To me a person who is an experienced cruiser and knows all the protocols of appropriate behavior in public because they have cruised before.

The brawlers are probably inexperienced cruisers, likely younger who cannot control their alcohol intake because after all, they are on vacation and they don't see the money coming out of their pocket thanks to sign and sail. Therefore, they get drunk, stupid and feel they are superheroes.

Unfortunately CCL is providing a vacation service so security has to walk a fine line of when they step in and sometimes it is too late because of the fear of angering a guest or groups of guests. Same thing with bartenders, when do they cut off customers on a ship? I have NEVER seen a person cut off in 15 years of cruising.

Now me personally, I am like the guy who posted about the two young lovers, I never walked away from a confrontation, and I probably would have done the same thing ... but here is that fine line, what would happen if the guy who wanted to show love decided instead that he wanted to start bumping chests with you? If there's a fight, you both go off the ship. There is no judge and jury, CCL throws ALL involved off the ship who are involved in fighting.

Again, I think it i s about people who have never been on a cruise before as adults, to know how to behave and act like horse's asses. No disrespect intended to the horse of course. In my opinion it has nothing to do with class or social status and everything to do with people not knowing how to live without boundaries.

I have seen people dressed to the nines so drunk they could not find their room. I believe some people have boundary issues and it does not matter where they are on the socio-economical scale. When I see something that is an issue, I notify someone who can get security to handle it. That way I don't start "something" with that person. Some people are just waiting for you to say something so they can get ugly. I have rarely though seen bad behavior on the cruises I have been on, but it can happen there or at a concert or any other public place. Anytime you have that many people together, there is always the risk that something can happen. I just ignore them and get someone to handle the issue. I have enjoyed all of my Carnival cruises and have never had an issue with anyone on any ship.

"Bus rider"??? Are you kidding me? I would like to know the meaning of that phrase used in this thread because I have heard it used in a very demeaning way in real life regarding mentally challenged children.

No...you're getting it mixed up with another term/phrase which I won't use here.

Sorry...but don't try to inflame things more with fake outrage.

but it has everything to do with Booze and stupidity...I've worked for years in a the special events security field and have had to deal with intoxicated people from every walk of life.. from the lowest of the low to the ones who nose is so far up in the air if it were upside down and raining they'd drown...booze and people who can not handle their liquour don't mix.

Well said!!! Thank you for pointing out that not only the poor or uneducated are bad obnoxious drunks. On another point, cruising has become one of the most economical vacations available. Therefore, it is no longer limited to the affluent. Even us normal middle class folks can afford them.

Actually it was reported that all 15 people kicked off, all wore tuxes to the MDR. There goes your theory. Care to generalize even more?

I witnessed ZERO tuxes on this sailing... but plenty of sleeveless t-shirts, raggedy cut-off jeans, and baseball caps in the dining room!

BTW, "cruise elegant" night was on Tuesday, I assume the fight occurred last night - otherwise my guess is that they would have been put off the ship in Nassau or Grand Turk.

YIKES! I was sitting with Don on Thursday night playing Video Poker (got THREE straight flushes between the two of us!). Since there was some foosball ( :D ) game being shown in the area typically reserved for Karaoke, they moved Karaoke to the Casino bar (performer area) for the entire evening. There were A LOT of unhappy campers being subjected to less than marginal quality vocals. I made a joke to Don about one: a young girl (perhaps 6-7) was singing and of course EVERYONE who came to watch the event clapped up a storm after she finished. I asked Don if I went over there and BOOED if I would get punched - he nodded... BTW, I would NEVER pull such a stunt!

Perhaps subjecting everyone to the Karaoke is what started things! ;) :D

Wow! I can't believe some of these posts.......and the ones that got deleted:rolleyes: How convenient:rolleyes:

Someone mentioned the word "busriders" and said that is the term flight attendents use for people that book the cheapest fairs:confused: Serious:confused: What is wrong with booking the cheapest fares? I look for the cheapest airfares myself........so if you are a "busrider" for booking the cheapest airfare.......then one can say you are a "busrider" for booking the inside cabins on a cruise;) Sounds hypocritical to me.......

Nobody knows what happened in regards to this fight..........half of the guys could have been defending themselves.....

This is a good point, and no one else even suggested it. It's likely that half, or more, of the people involved were just defending themselves. I don't know about you guys, but if I'm attacked, I'm attacing back. Heck, for all we know, it could have one drunken idiot who hit a woman or something and 14 others who decided to show him what for, rightly so. Would that make them low class? Does it make me low class if I choose to defend myself when attacked? It just means I'm not a wimp. All that said, the manners of Carnival's "clientele" have certainly gotten worse over the last decade. But I guess you could say that about American society in general.

I think it is the class of people combined with alcohol. You add those two together and it does not make a good mix. Glad these people will face consequences.

Exactly. I know some pretty "classy" people that DO NOT hold their alcohol well at all!! I am always amazed by the out of character transformation when these people drink!!

Yes Kurb the offending post is left but the ones objecting to it get pulled.

Of course we must be busriders because we want to save money.

I noticed that too!!! Sometimes, these boards are just too much. I guess I'm a busrider too!

First the Dream and now the Destiny.....geez, that is not a good reputation for Carnival to get....

I look at it another way that it should be made more known. That way they will book another cruiseline knowing that Carnival is not going to put up with their BS.

I don't think it was the alcohol to blame. It is the class of people.

Certain people get drunk and want to fight, but they are not the type of people who typically do well in life. Apparently they do well enough to afford to cruise on Carnival.

gosh, nothing like stereotyping..

I suppose people with real class and money like the Housewives of NJ don't sail Carnival. (They were recently on a cruise)

OP, I agree that Carnival is clamping down on it and we're hearing more about these incidents. I am sure they kept these things quiet in the past.

I have NEVER seen a person cut off in 15 years of cruising.

I have seen several have their accounts shut off. One was on the Fantasy and this person had an Open Bar Card. So yes, if you drink too much, they will cut you off.

My wife was on the Holiday and a guy streaked across the stage. They cut his bar privileges off as well as almost not allowing him off the ship in Cozumel.
