Canada/NE Sept 27 - Crown Princess - tours or on your own

Cruising from Quebec City Sept 27: for Charlottetown, Sydney and Halifax in Nova Scotia and Newport, RI we are thinking of walking about town on our own. Is is doable?

Also, anyone have difficulty tendering to port in enough time to take 10 AM Oli's Trolly tour in Bar Harbor on our own?

Was the Princess tour Hop On Hop Off Pink Bus in St. John's, New Brunswick worth it?

We did a similar itinerary on the CB two years ago. No problem with the tenders in Bar Harbor - we had a 9:30am tour of Acadia with the National Park Service, and we were very early for it.

 

The pier in Halifax is at the beginning of the Harbor Walk boardwalk. We walked the entire length and back. There were lots of interesting things along the way, places to eat, local craftsman, etc. Not far from the ship is the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic - it was excellent - there's a 3D National Geographic film on the Titantic there, plus artifact from that and the Halifax explosion during WW1.

 

St. John, NB was kind of boring. There was no bus when we went. the reversing falls was a disappointment. There's a market near the pier that was fun, and in walking distance. There was no bus when we were there, but they might have added one since.

 

We haven't been to the other ports.
