tender in Villefranche

We are arriving Villefranche via Celebrity Century and taking a private tour. Any advice on getting on an early tender instead of waiting for hours? Will they send you away if you don't wait for announcement and go straight to the tenders without tickets? How long does it usually take to get off the ship via tenders in Villefranche? There are 8 of us that we all met via cruisecritic taking the same private tour, and of course we all trying to get off the ship asap to meet our tour guide.

Thanks for any advice!

Don't know about the Century, but we were on the Solstice on our last Med cruise. We tendered on Santorini. Yes, they were sending people back that did not have the right tender tickets. Some people were upset.....but they said "in order" only. I think Celebrity follows this practice.

Best bet is to get in line early. EARLY. We didnt and got late tickets. Oh well, our day was weird anyway with a port stop of 2pm to 10 pm....... We just went with the flow....................................

We will be tendering into Cannes in May 2011 (while the film festival is going on). We have a private tour booked and are concerned we will not get off the ship in a very timely manner. We are in port at 10AM - does anyone have any helpful advice for the initial poster and me?

They will send you away without the correct ticket. Especially with there being eight of you. Better follow the rules and go to the theatre and collect tender tickets. Get there early and you should be ok.

It also depends on how many other ships are in at the same time. We had Ocean Village and Century in Cannes last year and we got off within the hour. Celebrity tours go first.

The ports have their own tender boats and share them out.

On the other hand we were in Santorini on Millennium and it took over two hours to get off as there were 5 ships in that day.

Helpful advice has been given - but will say it again.

Get in line for your tender tickets EARLY. Don't miss when they call your number........ and your tour company will wait for you. They know that when tendering you could be delayed.....
