beagledude Posted September 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2010 I finally got around to putting together a Youtube video of our very first cruise. I never wanted to go on a cruise and the family had been bugging me for 15 years. They finally talked me into it. We went in July 2009 and are now getting ready for our third Royal Caribbean cruise. I never thought I would have such a blast. None of us were in before 3am and we are usually in bed by 10pm. Tons of action in the casino and clubs which we didn't even get to until midnight. We were staying in an OS and my very-young-adult daughters wanted the suite perks, so instead of their own room (I wasn't getting a GS for them), they stayed in ours. It was fine, not even an issue with just one bathroom. All four of us even got along great for seven days while spending a good amount of time together! The ship was awesome, cabin was great, the service outstanding, food good enough, fantastic weather, great time in ports and met some great people on the ship. Thanks to CC, I didn't feel like a first-timer and were able to get so much out of the experience. The video is really a pictoral review of our cruise and was edited for the Youtube max length. It showcases the cabin and us having a great time. If you have some time to burn, enjoy it. Next up, Freedom of the Seas (without our young ladies)! Watch in HD if you have a good Internet connection (option on lower right had side of video). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKtfRK5-aQA

beagledude Posted September 17, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted September 17, 2010 Thanks. Putting it together gave me a chance to enjoy the memories again. Looks like the HD mode for Youtube is not working for Internet Explorer (it does on Firefox). Bummer, looks great in HD, but still fun in standard 360p or 480p. cruisldy Posted September 17, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2010 Thank you for the pictorial video. We'll be going on our 2nd Mariner voyage in November, but this time were are in a Grand Suite instead of an inside, as last time. I was so curious to see if the balcony furniture was as nice as the Radiance, which was our first Grand Suite, but it is a little different and I just wish they had a bigger table for out there, as the Radiance did. Just have to make due. Your Daughters are beautiful ladies, but then I see they get their looks from their Mom, ummm, and their Dad.:D

We went again in May and it was different. We were fortunate to have an RS that cruise, so I can't comment on the table size for a GS. That was nice about my daugthers, it was all Mom, I'm just along for the ride.

Rare KKB Posted September 18, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 18, 2010 LOVED your video! Who were the good looking young men--did your girls meet them on the ship? Only 5 weeks until our first RCI cruise on the Mariner!
beagledude Posted September 18, 2010 Author #11 Share Posted September 18, 2010 LOVED your video!Who were the good looking young men--did your girls meet them on the ship? Only 5 weeks until our first RCI cruise on the Mariner! Thank you. I really was a great week for us (that's why we sailed again this last May and are going again this fall). On the first night, I told the Maitre d' that the four of us could not dine together each night as that's what we did for years and it wouldn't work for seven nights (we had MTD). His mission was to get some guys for my girls. On the second night he sat us alone together and I told him he wasn't handling his assignment very well. We sat down and he went to another table and grabbed four handsome young men that were from Texas and told them they were moving tables (they had already ordered their food!). They were all really nice young college kids. Everyone had a blast for the next six nights and they made a point of keeping me in the loop on where they were if we weren't all playing cards in the casino or dancing in the club. awhcruiser Posted September 20, 2010 #15 Share Posted September 20, 2010 What category did you book?? We are in an E2. First time on the Mariner for us. Yep. March 25, 2012, Mariner of the Seas from Galveston. Pretty decent price too.
Jimnbigd Posted September 20, 2010 #16 Share Posted September 20, 2010 What category did you book?? We are in an E2. First time on the Mariner for us. Four inside cabins -- 2 N's and 2 K's on deck 6 (not Promenade view). The 2 K's are connecting with 4 girls in one of the cabins. Is it too soon to start Roll Call? First time for Mariner for me too, but been on Voyager several times.
awhcruiser Posted September 20, 2010 #17 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Looks like the roll call I started has gone poof due to lack of activity. Thought about booking an inside Promenade but the price diff between that and the E2 wasn't much. Four inside cabins -- 2 N's and 2 K's on deck 6 (not Promenade view). The 2 K's are connecting with 4 girls in one of the cabins. Is it too soon to start Roll Call? First time for Mariner for me too, but been on Voyager several times.
