Millennium C1 Cabin

I am sailing on the Millennium on 9/27 and picked a C1 cabin 8172 on the Panorama deck which looks out over the stern of the ship. This should be wonderful for this Panama Canal cruise.

Two questions:

1. It the veranda larger than the usual concierge class size?

2. Since we will be gone for about three weeks, can the cabin store three suitcases, one large and two medium?

This will be cruise 39 for me, but the first on Celebrity. Greatly looking forward to it, but please cruisers, don't tell HAL!!

The balcony is massive - extremely deep. It is much, much larger than a concierge class balcony on the side of the ship.

Most people are able to store suitcases underneath the bed. You can put one of your smaller suitcases inside your large suitcase once you unpack to make them more compact - then you should be able to fit everything under the bed unless the suitcases are abnormally large.

Although we have not been in an aft cabin on these ships yet (leaving on December 3 on Millennium and have booked one) I have been doing quite a bit of looking on the boards and found these pics of cabin 7208 on the Millennium. Keep in mind that on a higher deck the balcony will be slightly shorter but not by much.

The kind folks that posted these pics originally actually had put the loveseat out there to accommodate a crib they needed so that is why you see it in the photos but, you can see how truly giant they are.

As far as suitcases, we used to have some odd shape ones and since they did not fit under the bed, we simply asked our cabin stewards to store them for us which they did with no problem at all.

Going through the canal is a great cruise as well-- enjoy it.

It is much deeper, but no wider. The trade-off is that you gain greater total square footage on the veranda and a great view off the back of the ship in exchange for losing part of the view from the cabin because the view is partially obstructed on both sides by the deep dividers when looking out from the cabin.

You can see some photos from 7208 on the Summit (similar cabin on stern of sister ship to the Millennium) here

Three suitcases should fit under the bed very easily. If you have a very deep suitcase, you may need to lift up the bed frame to slide the suitcase under. People also sometimes store their smaller suitcases inside the larger ones.

We were on the Constellation - millie's sister-ship - in cabin 7203. It's balcony was almost as long as our cabin!! Large round table, 4 chairs and 2 loungers! Deck 8 balconies aren't as deep as deck 7 but will still be much, much larger than an ordinary cabin!

Our suitcasses - 2 large & 2 carry-on - were easily stored under the bed. As suggested, put smaller size inside larger. Be aware that the side of the bed is a little lower than the mattress. DH's large bag went under easily. Mine had a cruved covering over the wheel and I just had to lift the bed slightly to side it under the rim, then it fit easily. If your large bag is too big, try the closet or ask the steward and maybe he/she can store it. (Or if the weather's nice make it an extra table on the balcony!! only half kidding.)

PS ~ for some fun, bring along an inexpensive wind-sock for the balcony. We sailed July 3rd so I brought an American "flag" type. It looked great blowing in the wind and easily attached to the ropes between the canvas overhead. Just added a lot of fun to sitting on the balcony! (Also brough a table decoration and stars for the balcony sides.)

Have a GREAT cruise!!!!

We were on 8172 on the Summit in May. LOVED it!

The balcony was so deep. Yes there are dividers on each side, so if you are sitting by your sliding door you can only see straight out. Not a problem of us. Because abt 2/3 of the balcony has shade cover, you have a good amount of privacy and almost always some shade.

Balcony cabins can get really warm when the sun is on the door. So much less of a problem with this set-up.

We had eight otherrs over for a deck party and there was still plenty of room. PAR-TAY!

Might try to upload from the desktop later. Laptop is not uploading pics :(
