Cocoa Beach (Port Canaveral) Snorkel?

I've seen references to snorkeling in Cocoa Beach, but am wondering if it's a worthwhile venture? Anyone here with any experience there? We will have other opportunities in Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay. We are all new to snorkeling, and up there in age compared to many (group of four, 44 to 67). We will be cruising in December, so water temps may be an influence, too. Thanks for any help you can provide!

No

you saw a reference as to snorkeling here??? if so, they lie.

surfing - yes depending on the conditions but this is the mecca of Florida east coast surfing.

fishing - yes, plenty of charter boats readily available or surf fishing

kayak - yes the 1000 islands area of Cocoa and/or the Merritt Island wildlife refuge make for great critter spotting by kayak

Snorkel (or SCUBA) ..... no.

I'd recommend the Space Center (your congressman should be able to get you free tickets)

or the zoo http://www.BrevardZoo.com

Typically, anyone advertising snorkeling for Cocoa Beach, they are talking about fresh water snorkeling with the manatee's, usually across the peninsula at Crystal River. It is still a blast. Why don't you contact the party advertising or referencing snorkeling in Cocoa to see what they are talking about?

That's at least a two hour drive from Cocoa area - twice as far as Disney/Universal which are already suggested to be a poor excursion for the Cape Canav' one day port calls..... No, don't be cornfused by this one . . .
