Pearl Eastern Itinerary question?

Tortola has docks (two I believe), but will tender if other ships are in port. When I was in Tortola this past Feburary, we anchored, some tenders left, and then repositioned about an hour later to get closer to the shore after the other ships came in. That day, if you weren't on one of the first tenders, you had to wait a while before the next tenders could leave. We still have plenty of time to make it to White Bay on Jost Van Dyke, which I absolutely loved!

Will be on the Pearl in a few weeks, and reading my cruise docs it looks as though the stop for Tortola is a tender. Docs say Arrive/Anchor instead of Arrive/Dock, does anyone know?

It depends on the availability. When we took Pearl in Spring this year and it docked at Tortola but we had to use Tenders at all other ports.

Glad to hear you loved Jost Van Dyke, we have an excursion planned there. Since we have an excursion through the ship, I am not too worried, but like to know the deal before we go. Funny thing is, I tried to avoid tendering when planning this trip, and I really dropped the ball on this one. Do you get an early tender when you book a ship excursion????

When we did an NCL scheduled tour in Belize, yes. All NCL tours met in the Stardust Lounge and you were called up by tour number and escorted to a tender. The rest of the passengers did not get to have a tender until the tours were taken care of.

Hope that is the case. Guess we will see when we get there.

No. Something happened with the group that does the excursion and we sat in the theatre for about an hour waiting for them to call our excursion. Had they been on time, we would have been on one of the first tenders. It wasn't a problem at all because we still had more than enough time on Jost Van Dyke. We're actually going back on the next cruise and bringing more people with us. That's how much we loved it!

Edit in: It was actually more a problem going back on the Tender, because of the amount of drinking we had done on the island and boat on the way back... :-)
