Stay in Ft. Lauderdale or Miami?

We are flying into FLL on March 5th, 2011 arriving about 2pm and sailing out of Miami on March 6th. Should we stay in the FLL area or head to the MIA area that night? Also any particular areas of each that are good for two adults without a vehicle at their disposal? I plan on using SAS to get form the FLL to Miami area in general and will use shuttle or cab as needed other than that.

We just did something similar a couple of weeks ago. We flew into Fort Lauderdale, spent the night there and used SAS for the ride to Miami the next morning. We stayed in the beach area of Fort Lauderdale so a car wasn't necessary. Some prefer spending time in Miami to Fort Lauderdale pre/post cruise so it's all a matter of personal preference. BTW, we were very satisfied with SAS's service. They picked us up at our hotel at the agreed upon time.

Hi,

What is SAS?

WE have used SAS transportation twice - website is ridesas.com.

They picked us up at Fort Lauderdale airport and took us to our downtown Miami hotel ($15 per person if I remember correctly). They use vans so sometimes there's a little wait, but we had no problems. They will also do a return from ship to airport after your cruise for additional $15 each. Besides reserving on the website, I always call them to confirm.
