Londen'sMiMi Posted February 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2005 Has anyone stayed here or know anything about it?
Cotton Posted February 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2005 Gorgeous hotel! Very old world, great amenities. Usually a little pricey, but they do run specials at times. Good location on Bienville, near everthing, and has a fabulous restaurant, Louis XIV. I've been to Mardi Gras parties there. I think you would like staying there. Londen'sMiMi Posted February 18, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted February 18, 2005 Thanks Cotton, We've got a reservation for May 6 (the evening before our cruise on the Sensation). I was a little concerned that $119 sounded too good to be true in the FQ. Would you suggest we eat at their restruant or try something different since we'll only be in NO one night? We would also love to hear a great Blues band...any suggestions here? We spent a few days in NO several years ago and had a blast, but I can't remember the names of any of the places we visited except for Pat O'Bryan's (sp?). Those Hurricanes and shots don't help the memory impaired!
jgmpuma Posted February 18, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2005 Ditto to Cotton's opinion of the Saint Louis, and especially Louis XVI. That is one of our all-time favorites. Since you will be here in May, you may want to dine in the courtyard. Its one of the most beautiful and romantic in the French Quarter. It isn't cheap, but worth every penny. Great service and about the closest you will get to classic French cuisine in New Orleans. They often offer specials, but the standard menu is at: http://www.louisxvi.com
Londen'sMiMi Posted February 19, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted February 19, 2005 Wow! Thanks for the link. Louis XVI looks great...and the menu sounds delicious. Would dressy casual be OK? Still looking for that perfect Blues Bar and any other suggestions. Thanks to all.
zydecocruiser Posted February 19, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 19, 2005 You seen the hotel website? http://www.stlouishotel.com/ You can just walk up and down Bourbon street and listen from the street. Go cups are legal. Or go in and sit down when you find something you like. Here is one place to find club listings: http://www.offbeat.com/ http://www.offbeat.com/clubs.html http://www.offbeat.com/listings.html You are coming in the weekend after Jazzfest, so things may be a little quiet, but that's a relative term. Or maybe some will be hanging around: http://www.nojazzfest.com/ Preservation Hall is popular but may not be what you are looking for: http://www.preservationhall.com/main.html {no smoking or drinking} Snug Harbor (take a taxi) is popular. Londen'sMiMi Posted February 19, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted February 19, 2005 Thank you! Great links...I just wish we were going to be there a whole week ahead of time. I did print the list of clubs. That will be a great help. Thanks again.
