Gorgeous hotel! Very old world, great amenities. Usually a little pricey, but they do run specials at times. Good location on Bienville, near everthing, and has a fabulous restaurant, Louis XIV. I've been to Mardi Gras parties there. I think you would like staying there.

Thanks Cotton, We've got a reservation for May 6 (the evening before our cruise on the Sensation). I was a little concerned that $119 sounded too good to be true in the FQ. Would you suggest we eat at their restruant or try something different since we'll only be in NO one night? We would also love to hear a great Blues band...any suggestions here? We spent a few days in NO several years ago and had a blast, but I can't remember the names of any of the places we visited except for Pat O'Bryan's (sp?). Those Hurricanes and shots don't help the memory impaired!

Ditto to Cotton's opinion of the Saint Louis, and especially Louis XVI. That is one of our all-time favorites. Since you will be here in May, you may want to dine in the courtyard. Its one of the most beautiful and romantic in the French Quarter.

 

It isn't cheap, but worth every penny. Great service and about the closest you will get to classic French cuisine in New Orleans. They often offer specials, but the standard menu is at:

Wow! Thanks for the link. Louis XVI looks great...and the menu sounds delicious. Would dressy casual be OK? Still looking for that perfect Blues Bar and any other suggestions. Thanks to all.

You can just walk up and down Bourbon street and listen from the street. Go cups are legal. Or go in and sit down when you find something you like.
