Spf12 Posted October 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2010 The closing price today was $81.57 per barrel.I wonder which cruiseline will blink first? Celebrity states that they can impose a surcharge when oil reaches $65 per barrel. It should be interesting.

Oil needs to go to $100+ before Celebrity would consider a fuel surcharge. For quite some time now oil has been steady trading in a range of low $70s to low $80s. Celebrity is well hedged with fuel for this year, next year and part of the year after. Its quarterly and annual profit forecasts account for fuel being in the low $70s to low $80s as does current pricing of their cruises. A fuel surcharge would be totally unjustified at this juncture and there is a near 0% chance of one in the near future (unless oil spikes to triple digits). There is also a good chance oil dips back into the $70s in the next week or two.
BroncosFan2010 Posted October 1, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2010 I personally don't thing they will add the fuel surcharge in anytime soon, but I think it would be very bad for their business if they did. I would like to see them just put everything into one price (port fees, taxes, fuel) when booking.
