Fishing from pier/beach Long Beach

Is there anywhere you can rent fishing equipment to fish along the shore or off a pier around Long Beach or in the general vicinity? We have 2 full days with no plans and a rental car, so even somewhere not in long beach would be fine. My DS would really like to do some fishing. Or... Any fishing companies that are good that offer tours nearby?

What does he plan to do with what he catches??

 

I would recommend that instead of fishing in the harbor from a pier (which is pretty polluted) that he sign up for a full day or half day boat trip out of Long Beach or San Pedro.

He will need a CA fishing license for this, but they can hook him up with this as well as needed gear.

Check out Pierpoint landing--this is a big enough location that it might rent equipment to people going out on its boat. You will probably need a fishing license--you could probably get it there too.

Lots of people fish off of Belmont Pier, but I am unaware where you could rent fishing tackle.

 

King Harbor specifically states that it rents tackle.
