tcher0619 Posted October 5, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2010 After our TA my husband and I are spending a few extra days in Florida and would like to drive to Keywest. Has anyone done that? The question is, should we drive straight through to Keywest or break it up? We would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
BobT172 Posted October 5, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2010 We have done that...go straight to Key West.... alot to see and do..tours, lounges, clubs, bands, resturants, etc... a great place for 2-3 days to explore.... we didn't known what to expect when we went but it turned out great...we stayed at the Doubletree out by the airport and they provided near continuous shuttle service (complimentary) to downtown and back til the wee hours. JohninDC Posted October 5, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2010 There's a few places to stop, especially if you want to snorkel or fish; otherwise put the top down, enjoy the drive and spend your time in Key West. Do not miss El Siboney (900 Catherine St) for wonderful Cuban food! Good luck!:)

RuthlessBunny Posted October 5, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 5, 2010 It's a long drive. 4.5 hours with no traffic. Cheeca Lodge on Islamorada is a decent enough resort, if you want a stopping place.

You will love the drive down especially when you get to the part of riding with the Gulf on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other side - the drive can be breathtaking.
