i understand there are pokerpro machines instead of a live dealer in the casino...

are they typically well attended? what game is spread on them? is it 1/2 [50-200] NL?

is there a hold 'em tournament?

i'll be on the 7 day conquest.

The machines are Texas Hold Em, they are generally VERY well attended, the limits change according to requests from the players (or at least they did on Victory and Liberty), There were tournaments. I would ask when the tournaments are going to be at the casino cashier, you will have to go there to get your poker card anyway.

Sailed the Carnival Spirit in May. Had one Poker Pro table. Limits were only ever $1/$2. There were a couple of tournaments scheduled but at each tournament time the table was full of players and they opted to cancel the tournament and allow us to continue playing cash games instead. As for attendance. That's hit and miss. It seemed the table was either completely full or completely vacant and there really wasn't much in between. The rake is kinda high at 10% of the pot. You use your sail and sign card same as you would in the slot machines. Your Poker Pro balance and your slot machine balance are on two seperate systems and are not linked. You can deposit money at the table using your card but to collect payout you have to go to the cashier. Hope this helps you out.

I played the Poker Pro machine on Fascination last spring. I won't do it again. The rake was WAY too high for my liking and the game itself felt more like a video game or playing online at home. To me, it just didn't feel like playing a live game at a poker table. While many like it, it just wasn't my preference.

I played in the poker table on the Valor last February and I seem to remember the rakes being no more that $1 per player at the most.

I think the "feel" of the table was very much like a live game. You can definitely get a read on people, unlike online games.

I played Holdem almost every night. While it was computerized you were able to make some friends at the table. The rake only seems high if there are fewer than 5 players. It was mostly 1 or 2 no limit, but we did play one tournament.

The rake is high at first glance, but compared to many places I've played, it's actually on par when you factor in that there is no drop for a bad beat jackpot, no tipping a dealer, etc. The Poker Pro rake is usually capped higher than a live room, but the net amount that goes back to the winner of the hand probably isn't too far off from an equivalent hand in a card room. I'm a regular (but casual) player in card rooms and on cruises, so my observations are somewhat informal. Also--I've never seen a table set higher than $1/$2 blinds on any of the Carnival ships I've been on.
