Epic_Bear Posted October 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2010 10/9/10: Saturday I took a 5:45AM flight out of Boston, and arrived in Miami around 9:00AM. my luggage was one of the first off the belt, and I sat around to wait for my Mom's flight to come in. By 10AM we were in a cab and heading to the terminal. They let us check in around 11AM, and then we were escorted to the waiting room. We had no problem "Smuggling" a box of wine and two rum runners of Skinny Girl Margaritas on board. No biggie for us to wait, but some people were flipping out. There is a door to a second terminal, and the security guard stepped aside for a minute and 100 people ran through it. We just sat there laughing, as they were escorted back. It's not like the ship was going anywhere...We got on around 12:15, dropped off our duffle bags in Headliners until the rooms were ready. A quick lunch at the buffett, then we changed into our swim suits and found a hot tub. We partook in some fruty cocktails and our room was ready at 1:45PM. We went to collect our bags, and to check out the room. Beautiful balcony stateroom, plenty of storage, and the bathroom set up wasn't a bother at all. We set off to explore the ship until it was time to see the Blue Man Group. Great show, and we got to be the "Late Arrivals" for one of their acts. Then we went to O'Sheens for a quick dinner before bed...after a long day of travel! 10/10/10: Sunday at Sea We are a big fan of buffet breakfasts, so we hit that for scrambled eggs, fruit and coffee before heading back to Spice H20. A very nice oasis from the kids and craziness. It was hot, sunny, and a great place to veg out. Wilson was a great bar waiter, who wasn't pushy about the drinks. A couple of bushwackers and some of our own smuggled drinks and it was a good day. It was dress up or not night, and we are all for dressing up! We ate at Taste and had yummy salmon and beef. Then we headed out to see Second City, who I loved from other cruises. We actually ended up seeing four of their shows. A great day at sea... 10/11/10: Monday at Sea Another day spent at Spice H20, just vegging out, which is my favorite activity. Drinks, books, browsing the shops, what more do I need to do? We went to the Cirque for dinner. Great surf and turf, delicious desserts and one crazy show! We had standard seats, but a great view of all the actions. Towel Animal: Dog 10/12/10: Tuesday in St. Maarten We had never been here before, so it was super great to see a new island. We just walked off the ship and to the local beach. We got 2 chairs and umbrella for $15. The water was super warm, and there were a bunch of shops and bars right around us. Bought a couple on one dollar beers. There is just something so great about walking around town with a beer in one hand. Mom bought a Swatch watch, but nothing really caught my eye. We got back on around 4PM, took another hot tub and we sailed away around 6PM. We had a couple glasses of wine from our box and went to La Cucina for dinner. Great food, waiter and more wine. There wasn't a big crowd in there, although the availability chart on the wall said it was full. We had a late night hot tub and it was off to bed. Towel Animal: Bunny 10/13/10: Wednesday in St. Thomas We had been to St. Thomas about six times, so this time we signed up for a St. Johns Excursion: The Champagne Catamaren. I would totally recommend this to anyone! We took the open air bus down to a marina, and boarded a beautiful boat. The crew was great, fun and knowledgable. They pointed out Michael Jordan and Carol Burnett's houses and gave me this great tidbit: It is legal to drink and drive in St. Thomas, but you will get a ticket for driving without a shirt on. We snorkled around St. Johns for about two hours, then consumed a lot of rum punch on the way back to St. Thomas. It was beautiful, saw a lot of fish and sea turtles. We shopped around St. Thomas for a bit, and headed back to the ship. We ate at O'Sheens again for dinner, great fish and chips! Gambled a bit... Towel Animal: Elephant 10/14/10: Thursday at Sea Another great day at sea. Sun, booze, hot tubs, shopping....We went to see the Men behind the Blue. Amazing to see what these guys look like without their make up. I didn't know a thing about the Blue Man Group before this trip, so it was great to get some background. We at at Le Bistro. Great sword fish for me! The waiter dropped a drink on me, but they just moved us to a different table. No biggie there. Towel Animal: Alligator 10/15/10: Friday in Nassua This was the only day it rained, but it didn't scare us off from the hot tub! We docked early and just wanderestraw market for awhile and had some drinks at Senor Frogs. It was then back to the ship to just veg out a bit. We saw Second City again, the fourth time, and had dinner at O'Sheens. We did some last minute shopping. I can't resist a teddy bear in an Epic shirt, and Mom bought one too. We took many pictures of the bears doing silly things around the ship. Towel Animal: Monkey! 10/16/10: Home! We got off the ship around 9:30, and were at the airport by 10:15AM. No big lines or waits. Awesome trip! Notes: We had a great room steward, Alex! Super friendly and sweet. Wilson at Spice H20 was great as well. The Epic was a beautiful ship and would go again anytime!

Epic_Bear Posted October 18, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted October 18, 2010 The first time we made a reservation. We tried making them to go again, but were only allowed to reserve for one show. The other three times we went stand-by and had no trouble getting in.
Madisonsmom Posted October 18, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 18, 2010 I too just got off on the 16th. The ship was wonderful no complaints really. My only complaint was TOO much cigarette smoking in the casino.
