Lunch with the Captain

Does Princess still offer this wonderful venue to the most traveled passengers? We had lunch on the Golden Princess and thought that it had become a new tradition. We sailed again and no lunch. We sailed again and nothing. Has this gone by the wayside, or are we rookies as Elite passengers for such a perk?

Princess offers either a most traveled lunch or cocktail party on most of their sailings (I have heard they often don't do it on sailings less than 7 nights such as coastals).

My guess is that you are not making the cut. I seem to only make the cut when I sail Alaska but don't seem to make the cut in the Caribbean. I spoke to the Captain Circle Host on my last sailing and she indicated I wasn't even close to being invited while in Alaska, I have consistently been invited.

I agree with Coral, it depends upon the itineary a lot. In Alaska I've been right at the top, in other locations its much different. On my last Dawn B2B I was invited both weeks but on my recent Mexico sailing on the Sapphire there were over 125 Elite members ahead of me so I wasn't even close to being invited. Luck of the draw each week I guess.

Yep, it all depends on how many top passengers you are sailing with on a certain cruise. We are not Elite yet, but have as many days on Princess as many of them do. We have attended two luncheons with the captain. The first on a 7 day Grand Princess sailing and a second on the Tahitian Princess for 10 days. We usually take at least 10-14 days and longer cruises and normally don't make the cut of most traveled. It all depends on how many are higher than you are in days traveled. Sometimes you make it, other times you don't.

We just made it to the Elite class on our last cruise. Do we have to let the Captain Circle hostess know how many days we have or do they know and just invite you if you have enough days to be invited? We have never gone to the Hostess, are we suppose to?? Thanks for any information.

They suggest you alert the hostess to how many days you have sailed with Princess. We have never done it and still were invited. I was told that this is so if for some reason they have forgotten someone, they can say that they suggested that you contact the hostess. Kind of covers them for oversites. But to date, we have never had to, they have all the info in their system.

The hostess will pull a list of travelers with their day count. She simply goes top down until she has filled the tables with guests. You have to do nothing as it is part of her job on every cruise.
