Buying wine at pier in San Juan

Yes. Celebrity leaves from the Pan Am Pier which is not near any independent stores. But there is a liquor store in the terminal building that sells a small, but nice, selection of wines. We wanted some Champagne and they had selections from inexpensive sparking wines to Dom Perignon. We bought some Clicquot Yellow label at something like $30/bottle - a nice price.

Will be arriving by Celebrity transfer on bus for Nov 22 cruise out of San Juan. Is there anywhere right at or near the pier within walking distance to buy wine? Thanks.

Atlantic Cruiser, you should come over to our roll call and introduce yourself!

Other than the sparkling wines, we found the selection and offerings at the store inside the terminal to be pretty poor, and while we bought a couple of bottles, we also were not happy with them when we tasted them. I would recommend stopping at a store on your way from the airport -- ask your cabdriver and he/she should be able to help, and wait for you while you pick something out.

I think the original poster meant they were coming to ship via the transfer bus, so could not just ask the driver to pull over to some random store, imagine if everyone did that!

Hubby & I forego the bus transfer & take a cab, then we ask our driver to stop at the grocery store that is on the way to the terminal & we pick out our wine there, which is a fairly large selection! I wish I could recall how much the cab ride was, but it is not much at all & worth it for my two bottles of wine allowance!

Taxi from SJU airport (zone 1) to Pan Am or OSJ piers (both are in zone 4) should be flat rate of $19 for up to 5 passengers, $2 extra each if there is a 6th and 7th passenger and $1 per piece of luggage that the driver handles.
