We are going on our first NCL cruise sailing on Christmas Day from Port Canaveral on the Sun. Can anyone tell me about this ship and about the "Freestyle Cruising". We are so excited to go to dinner whenever and wherever wearing whatever. ( I know wearing whatever is resort casual) Can guys wear nice shorts and and silk shirt to dinner? Just wondering as we have never sailed with NCL before. If someone has the time tell me everything you like about this ship and this style of crusing.

We are staying in an AFT Balcony cabin # 8278 anyone ever stayed in this cabin???

Can't say about the Sun...but we've done 2 NCL ships... one MDR will allow shorts, the other and specialty will not just jeans (nice ones) and up... ;)

unless you want to do buffet.

We were on deck 8 but alas, not an aft cabin. You will find the location to be really good, one deck down to the theater balcony, 2 decks down to the main floor and the disco as well as Windjammer lounge. Great music evenings there, and the band Del Sol is great. You'll find them all over the ship but they do play a lot in the disco at 10:30.

I don't know about men in shorts at dinner, we basically wore what we had worn all day. I enjoyed the food, and the buffet as well. I really loved the ship, really elegant and not gaudy. The casino wasn't the greatest, I played my $5 a day and sometimes it went faster than others. Oh well, it was a great cruise and I found the staff to be very friendly.

I don't think I have ever seen a "guy" wear shorts and a silk shirt anywhere.
